Rouges were originally developed for the jewelry trade to color buff metals such as gold, platinum and other precious soft alloys.
Because rouges are formulated using very fine, particle-size abrasives and binders of high melting-point greases, they are now used extensively in other trades for color buffing whenever a dry working, luster buffing operation is desired without leaving a smutty surface.
This old-time favorite rouge is used in the finishing trade for cut/color operations on all classes of metals. Also used extensively for buffing tools, die parts, plug gage punches and to remove “metal fuzz” following grinding operations, without disturbing the essential dimensions of the work piece.
